Slideshow preview in Apple Mail

by TimJ on February 6, 2010

I accidentally discovered a keyboard shortcut in Snow Leopard that could be useful if someone sends you a file in Apple Mail that you want to immediately preview them in slideshow (full screen) mode. Obviously, you can click “Quick Look” to bring up the pics and can select a slideshow/full screen option from there. But if you hold the “option” key while looking at your message, the “Quick Look” button changes to “Slideshow.” This opens the pictures (or whatever file it is–worked on a powerpoint for me) in a full screen slideshow mode instantly so you can browse through them and show them off. Always love being able to save an extra click here and there. :)

Note: this also works with right-clicking a doc (quick look option in menu changes to slideshow)

Actually if there are bunch of pics in the email, the button automatically changes to slideshow instead of quicklook… at least for me it does. now if there were a keyboard shortcut to invoke that button, i’d be all set…

interesting…it doesn’t automatically change for me with pics. It was with a ppt a teacher sent that I discovered this, so it is useful if you want to launch the powerpoint in preview mode (good just for going through for study purposes) in full screen.
