The healthcare debate has been all the rage in the news lately. Here’s a quote from a Politico article that I think sums up the liberal logic well:
The Congressional Budget Office said the bill, which will cost $940 billion over 10 years, would reduce the deficit over the next 10 and 20 years.
Supposedly, spending $940 billion dollars through this bill will help to “reduce the deficit.” Granted, they allege the reductions will come through money saved through new procedures the bill establishes for insurance, Medicare, and the whole healthcare industry. But I’m more than a bit skeptical, especially based on the government’s previous track record. Most likely, these billions of dollars will be spent only to find that the US is spending more and more money instead of lowering the deficit. Gotta love the logic of pumping money into programs to try to reduce debt.
